Ka-mon

The Japanese family crest, known as ka-mon, is a symbol signifying family roots, tradition and background.

InCharacter Calligraphy custom creates elegant ka-mons for proud families. The plaques shown below consist of mons painted on 8"x8", 6"x6", or 4"x4" white tiles, optionally mounted on wood plaques. The large stand-alone tiles are backed by soft sheets of cork or foam, suitable for horizontal display on desk or dresser tops or vertically on display easels. Mons are also made to order in the see-through frames, as pictured below, as well as in many of our beautiful frames collection.

Order your very own family crest as a keepsake for yourself, your family and friends. Because of the large verieties of Japanese family crests, and some being very similar in design, it will be necessary that you furnish an image of your crest to show details.

Since the crest designs vary from simple to very complex, the calligrapher will need to view the crest design in order to determine the level of effort required to duplicate it. Accordingly, a one-time cusom set up charge will be required for a particular design. The sample items pictured below were priced from $19 (paper weight) to $150 (large tile plaque). Surnames and Given Names

Family names are important for signifying the lineages and the locale origins of families. The names are often proudly displayed at residences.

Your family surname can be hand-painted by InCharacter Calligraphy. Since names spoken in different dialects may be pronounced differently, and a phonetic translation of a name from Chinese or Japanese to English may not be unique, it is essential that you can identify the specific character(s) associated with the surname that you wish to have done.

Tattoos have become very popular as an art form in recent years. InCharacter designs and create tattoo templates to your specifications. The template is delivered in the form of a digital file. Take the template file to your tattooist and you won't have to worry about getting tattooed with the incorrect characters.

Depending on the content, the cost for a tattoo template can range from $20 to $75.

Grave Marker Templates

InCharacter works with customers to design and create templates for grave markers. Names of people and birth places are arranged to sizes and layouts according to requirments. To pair with any existing markers, InCharacter's artistry can skillfully matches the styles used. The templates are then utilized by the marker professionals to fashion the eventual product.

Depending on the requirements of the template, the service charge usually ranges from $80 to $200.
